Glamorgan Set for Biggest Game of the Season So Far

23 Jul 2015 | Cricket
Glamorgan head into the final round of the NatWest T20 Blast games this week, knowing they need to defeat Gloucestershire in Cardiff to qualify for the quarter final stages of the competition and hope results are favourable elsewhere.
It will be the biggest game of the season for us, we will be up against our nearest rivals at our home ground who are playing competitive cricket - there should be a good crowd, and a great experience.

We need a couple of results to go our way, and if they do, it will be up to us in the night.

If Glamorgan can replicate the fighting qualities the showed against the leaders Kent Spitfires last Friday, where they gained an exciting one run win, they will have every chance of going through to the last eight.

For 19 overs of the Kent innings, the home team were ahead of the required run rate, but Michael Hogan's superb final over where he took two vital wickets, turned the game Glamorgan's way.

We certainly won't underestimate Gloucestershire, says Cosker, in Michael Klinger, they have arguably the best T20 batsman in the country, while their left arm spinner Tom Smith is one of the leading wicket takers in the competition.

However Glamorgan's bowling unit have been most effective, with Hogan and Graham Wagg winning games against Middlesex and Kent in the final over.

Much will depend on Glamorgan's openers Jacques Rudolph and Colin Ingram who have played match winning innings this season. If they are able to establish a sound platform for the other attacking batsmen, notably Chris Cooke, Craig Meschede and Wagg, then Glamorgan should build a competitive total.

A win for Glamorgan will give them an opportunity to forget the disappointment of last season, when they lost in the quarter-final by just one run away to Lancashire Lightning.
