Head Coach Robert Croft has named an unchanged 13-man Vitality Blast squad to face Gloucestershire in their Friday afternoon Vitality Blast match at Cheltenham.
The Welsh county stand at two wins and two losses from their opening four matches and currently sit 6th in the South Group table as they head into a busy period with ten Vitality Blast matches in the space of three weeks.
Glamorgan will be drawing inspiration from last year’s campaign in which they also won two of their opening four fixtures before going on to top the South Division and reach Finals Day. It included a comfortable 25-run victory away from home against Gloucestershire which saw seam-bowler Michael Hogan take 2/25.
Overseas signing Joe Burns made his full debut for Glamorgan in their Vitality Blast defeat to Somerset last week. The Australian Test batsman is now hoping he can make his mark in the competition and is relishing the schedule with games coming thick and fast.
“I’ve just been settling in to Cardiff,” said Burns. “It’s a great part of the world so I'm just walking around getting used to the place. I’ve come from the winter in Australia where it’s dark very early at night so I’m enjoying the fact you can stay outdoors all night.”
The Somerset encounter was a quick turnaround for the right-hander after landing in the UK just three days before the match, but he now wants to help Glamorgan once again reach Finals Day after putting in extra practice since arriving in Cardiff.
“It was certainly a challenge stepping off the plane into it [Somerset game]. I’m enjoying having more time and a week’s work behind me now so looking forward to the volume of games coming up. We have 9-10 games now in a short period of time so it’s an exciting time to be here in the summer.
“For me I've been doing a lot of work indoors,” added Burns. “I think if you can get your skills in order around the games it allows you to have that freedom out in the middle. It’s hard to replicate the situations you find yourself in so it’s about adjusting on the fly.”
