Match Preview

Glamorgan remain in fourth place in the group table following their six-wicket defeat against the Kent Spitfires at Canterbury on Wednesday, which saw the Spitfires move to the top of the table. Having won their opening two contests against the Middlesex Panthers and Surrey, Glamorgan have now lost their last two contests, with Mark Wallace and his side looking to get back into winning ways against Durham who are in seventh place in the table following their three-wicket defeat by the Sussex Sharks at Hove on Tuesday.

The two counties last met each other in List A games in 2012 with Glamorgan winning the contest at Colwyn Bay by 15 runs after a fine new ball spell by paceman Simon Jones. The return contest at Chester-le-Street saw Mark Wallace complete his maiden one-day hundred for the Club, but it was in a losing cause as Durham recorded a 59-run victory.

Prior to that, the two sides had not met since September 2007 when Durham were victorious in a National League game at Chester-le-Street by 70 runs. They also met in 2006 in a day-night contest at Sophia Gardens with the game ending in a thrilling tie with Robert Croft and Ryan Watkins dismissed in the final over, delivered by Glamorgan old boy Mick Lewis.

It is a dozen years since the Welsh county last defeated Durham in a one-day contest at Cardiff with Glamorgan winning in May 2002 by 20 runs at Sophia Gardens, before later in the season completing a home and away double as they won at Durham's headquarters by three wickets.

Friday is Family Fun Day at the SWALEC

A host of activities are planned for Friday's Family Fun Day, to run between 1pm and 6pm. This includes the Boulders mobile climbing wall, bouncy castle, bungee run and face painting which will all be under the Cathedral Road Stand. There will also be cricket skills, the speedgun bowling challenge and a player autograph session in the Indoor School.

Dewi the Dragon will be joining the family fun day to meet young supporters and pose for photos, as well as taking on Durham Mascot Chester the Lion in a race on the field of play at the interval. Also at the interval the LV= Cricket Wales player of the Month award will be presented alongside a cricket demo from the Glamorgan Greencaps.
