Glamorgan v Kent - LVCC Head-to-Head

7 Sep 2015 | Matches
Glamorgan welcome Kent to the SSE SWALEC for their final home game in the LV=County Championship with the contest scheduled to get underway on Wednesday, September 9th at 10.30 am. (Gates Open - 9.30am)
After the completion of the latest round of games in the LV=County Championship, Glamorgan are in fourth place in the Division Two whilst Kent - despite making leaders Lancashire follow-on in their draw at Canterbury - remain in eighth spot. For the English county, this is their penultimate game in this year's four-day competition, whilst the Welsh county will complete their programme with visits to Northamptonshire and Gloucestershire.

Kent lost last summer by an innings and eleven runs, when they visited Cardiff for their Championship match against Glamorgan. Michael Hogan took 5/58 and 5/67 to record his first ten-wicket match haul for the Welsh county, and the Australian was a real thorn in the Kent side during their visit to the Welsh capital as a few days before in the Twenty20 contest as the Australian delivered an outstanding final over as the contest ended in a nerve-jangling tie.

Hogan also claimed nine wickets when the two sides met at Canterbury back in May in a contest which ebbed and flowed, before Glamorgan's lower order, well marshalled by David Lloyd, held on for a draw with Lloyd blocking out the final over with his side nine wickets down.

Kent were the victors in 2013 when the two team met at the SWALEC Stadium with Sam Northeast making 88 and Brendan Nash an unbeaten 70 to see their side to a seven victory. In September 2012 Glamorgan had completed a seven-wicket victory against Kent at the Cardiff ground with Robert Croft making a fairytale ending to his outstanding career by taking a wicket with his final delivery for the Welsh county.

September is the time of year when county players approach seasonal milestones, with Graham Wagg currently having a career-best tally of 760 runs, and second only to Jacques Rudolph on 876 runs as the Club's leading run-scorer in first-class cricket this summer. The all-rounder is also in the race to fifty wickets, with Hogan having claimed 40, with both Wagg and Craig Meschede on 38.
