The Kent Spitfires will be Glamorgan’s opponents at Swansea in their final group game in the Royal London One-Day Cup with the contest at St. Helen’s on Sunday, May 14th starting at 11am.
After their record-breaking victory against Hampshire on Friday at The Ageas Bowl, Glamorgan play at Swansea with their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages still hanging like a gossamer-thin thread with Glamorgan needing another stirring victory to further reduce their net run rate and then for the remaining results in the competition to go in their favour.
Their opponents Kent arrive at Swansea having won just one of their games so far and already out of contention. The match will be their first List A game at the St.Helen’s ground since 1992 when they won a Sunday League game by 47 runs. The Spitfires have a decent record in one-day games at the ground overlooking Swansea Bay with Glamorgan’s sole victory in List A games coming during the first week of May 1970 when half-centuries by Bryan Davis and Malcolm Nash, plus returns of 3/13 from Graham Kingston and 3/17 by Lawrence Williams saw the Welsh county to victory by 15 runs.
However, Glamorgan won their most recent encounter in a one-day game against Kent last summer at Canterbury as Colin Ingram, their talismanic batsman, posted an unbeaten 95 and together with half-centuries from David Lloyd and Will Bragg saw the Welsh county successfully chase 293 from 42 overs.
Gates will open at 10am on Sunday morning with entry into St.Helen’s via the main clubhouse entrance in Bryn Road, or through gates 5 and 8 on the Mumbles Road.
