Match Preview

Following draws with Leicestershire and Essex, plus other results during the past fortnight, Glamorgan have slipped down to sixth place in the Division Two table of the LV=County Championship, and go into this game four points ahead of their opponents who lie in seventh place. However, all five of the teams above both Glamorgan and Kent have each played one extra game and this match presents an opportunity for both teams to rise back up the table.

Both Glamorgan and Kent have one victory to their name so far this summer in Championship cricket with Mark Wallace and his team looking to get back into winning ways, besides erasing memories of their defeat last summer at their headquarters when Kent, despite a return of 6/65 by the fiery Michael Hogan, eased to a seven-wicket victory with Sam Northeast making 88 and Brendan Nash an unbeaten 70 to see their side home with plenty of overs in hand.

In September 2012 Glamorgan had completed a seven-wicket victory against Kent at the Cardiff ground with Robert Croft making a fairytale ending to his outstanding career by taking a wicket with his final delivery for the Welsh county, and all after a fine century by Jim Allenby had helped lay the foundations of a sizeable Glamorgan total.

This followed an innings victory over Kent at the Cardiff ground in 2011 with a century by Mark Wallace, plus half centuries from Will Bragg, Ben Wright and James Harris saw the Welsh county to an emphatic victory.
