Glamorgan head to North Wales to meet Lancashire in the annual LV=County Championship match at Colwyn Bay, with the contest at the ground in Rhos-on-Sea starting at 11am on Sunday, July 19th.
Despite being beaten by Essex and losing their unbeaten record at Chelmsford this year in the County Championship, Glamorgan remain in third place in the Division Two table with a game in hand over Surrey and Lancashire who are above them. Second-placed Surrey are 39 points ahead of Glamorgan after a victory at The Kia Oval over Kent, whilst Lancashire lead the table, 47 points ahead of Glamorgan, but with two matches against the Welsh county in the course of the next few weeks.
Despite the defeat at Chelmsford, Glamorgan remain unbeaten at home in the County Championship, as they meet the Red Rose county who have the leading batsman - Ashwell Prince with 1,050 runs - and the most successful bowler - Kyle Jarvis with 58 wickets - in Division Two this season.
The two teams met each other at Colwyn Bay in 2013 with Lancashire winning a dramatic encounter by 14 runs as Glamorgan - chasing a target of 154 on the third afternoon - dramatically collapsed from 94/2 to 139 all out with spinner Simon Kerrigan taking 5/32.
This will be the seventh time that the two teams have met each other at Colwyn Bay in Championship cricket with the Red Rose county also winning the contest in 1994 by 220 runs, whilst the games in 1990, 1992, 1998 and 2001 all ended in draws.
Glamorgan's last victory on Welsh soil against Lancashire in a first-class match came in July 1996 at Sophia Gardens when the Welsh county were victorious by 48 runs. Their victory was set up by an imperious 214 from Matthew Maynard as Glamorgan posted a formidable total of 505, before Dean Cosker and Robert Croft shared nine wickets between them as the spinner guided Glamorgan to victory on the final afternoon.
