Glamorgan head to North Wales for their next fixture in the LV=County Championship as they meet Surrey at Colwyn Bay in a four-day encounter which is scheduled to get underway at 11am on Sunday July 6th.
Match Preview
It's a case of third meets fourth as Surrey currently in third spot in the Division Two table, after their draw with Hampshire and a total of 132 points, meet Glamorgan with 112 points in fourth place after their defeat against leaders Worcestershire at New Road but with the Welsh county having a game in hand over the South London club.
Surrey have never met Glamorgan before in a Championship match at the attractive venue in Rhos-on-Sea having previously played the Welsh county at their grounds in Cardiff, as well as the outgrounds in Swansea, Neath and Pontypridd, plus their Carmarthenshire outpost in Llanelli, as well as in Monmouthshire at Ebbw Vale. Surrey also ventured to Cresselly in 2007 as Glamorgan took their Friends Provident Trophy match to the Pembrokeshire ground, so they can now add Denbighshire to their list of Welsh counties where they have played county matches.
The two sides met each other in early April at The Kia Oval in the opening LV=County Championship match of the season. The game duly saw Glamorgan win by ten wickets after Graham Wagg took a career-best 6/29 as Surrey were dismissed for a meagre 81 in their second innings.
However, Glamorgan victories on home soil against Surrey in Championship cricket have been few and far between. Their last home victory came at Swansea in 1983, where the Welsh side completed a successful run-chase on the final afternoon to win by five wickets. Before that, they were victorious in 1968 at Neath where a superb innings of 85 by Majid Khan laid the foundations of a comprehensive ten-wicket win.

The 12-man squad in full is - JA Rudolph, WD Bragg, MW Goodwin, CB Cooke, BJ Wright, J Allenby, MA Wallace (capt and wk), RAJ Smith, AG Salter, DA Cosker, WT Owen and MG Hogan.
