After their resounding 52-run victory over Gloucestershire at Cardiff on Monday evening , Glamorgan meet the Sussex Sharks in their next match in the Royal London One-Day Cup at The SSE SWALEC on Wednesday, June 8th with the match starting at 2pm (Gates open at 1pm).
A decent performance by Glamorgan’s batsmen, ably supported by their bowlers and fielders saw the Welsh county commence their campaign in the 50-overs competition with a handsome victory under the Cardiff floodlights on Monday evening against Gloucestershire, the reigning 50-overs champions. The Sharks also opened their campaign on Monday, but they lost to the Essex Eagles at Hove with Jesse Ryder pummelling a century to see his side to victory with an over to spare.
During the past few years, the Sharks have been Glamorgan’s nemesis in the Twenty20 competition, with the South Coast side winning their matches in 2015 by ten and nine wickets respectively. But as far as List A cricket is concerned, Glamorgan won at Hove when they met Sussex in 2014 with Jacques Rudolph posting a masterly 169*.
As far as List A cricket in Wales is concerned, last year’s match in the Royal London One-Day Cup at St. Helen’s fell foul of the weather, but at Swansea in July 2010, Glamorgan were the victors by three wickets as Dean Cosker claimed 4/33 with his canny left-arm spin whilst seam bowler Will Owen claimed 3/35 before a feisty 61 from Jim Allenby saw Glamorgan to victory.
