Glamorgan v Sussex Sharks: T20 Head-to-Head

21 Jun 2015 | Matches
The Sussex Sharks are Glamorgan's next opponents in the NatWest T20 Blast, as the two sides meet on Sunday, June 21st at the SSE SWALEC in a contest starting at 2.30pm (Gates open - 1pm)
After their defeat at Chelmsford on Friday evening, Glamorgan are in fifth spot in the group table, and they return to their headquarters to play the injury-plagued Sussex Sharks who are in seventh place and one point behind the Welsh county after their victory over second placed Hampshire at the Ageas Bowl.

A belligerent half-century by Chris Cooke guided Glamorgan to a thrilling last-ball victory in last summer's match between the two sides at Cardiff as West Indian Darren Sammy swatted the winning runs from the final delivery to see Glamorgan to a nail-biting five-wicket victory.

The Welsh county had been victorious the previous occasion the two sides met at the Cardiff ground, with the game in June 2011 seeing a fine spell of swing bowling by Alex Jones which thwarted the visitor's run chase, with the left-arm bowler taking 3/18 as the Sharks stumbled to a two-run defeat.

2012 also saw the Sharks lose at Cardiff as on Twenty20 Finals Day - very successfully staged at Glamorgan's headquarters - they were beaten by 36 runs by the Yorkshire Carnegie who had earlier posted 172-6 in their 20 overs thanks to an unbeaten 68 by Jonny Bairstow. Accurate seam and swing bowling was their undoing again as Tim Bresnan and Richard Pyrah made decisive inroads into the Sharks line-up with only Chris Nash, who struck 80 not out, offering any lengthy resistance.
