Glamorgan v Worcestershire - match preview and squad news

2 May 2014 | Matches
Worcestershire are Glamorgan's next opponents in the LV=County Championship, with the West Midlands side meeting the Welsh county in the four-day encounter starting at the SWALEC Stadium in Cardiff at 11am on Sunday, May 4th (Gates open - 10am)
Worcestershire are currently leading the Division Two table following victories over Kent and Derbyshire, whilst Glamorgan lie in fourth place in the table, and are still unbeaten in Championship cricket this summer having beaten Surrey by ten wickets at The Kia Oval and then achieving draws against Gloucestershire and Leicestershire.

Glamorgan were victorious last April when the two sides met at the Cardiff ground with Worcestershire being beaten by ten wickets thanks to a haul of 5/27 by Mike Reed plus a fine all-round performance from Jim Allenby who made an invaluable 78 and took 4/27 in the visitors second innings as Glamorgan eased to victory on the final day, and complete their first win in the Welsh capital over Worcestershire since 1971.

Glamorgan's victory last April made it three wins in succession in County Championship cricket against Worcestershire with Glamorgan having won the matches in 2011 at New Road and Colwyn Bay. But they failed to make it four out of four at Worcester last summer as a superb 250 by Moeen Ali, now in the England set-up, saw his side romp to an eight-wicket win after Glamorgan had been forced to follow-on.
