Glamorgan Cricket took home the award for the best One-Day pitches at the 2019 ECB Groundsman of the Year Awards last week at Edgbaston.
Up against all eighteen counties the team shared the coveted gong - which is awarded for pitches prepared at both domestic and international level - with local rivals Somerset.
On winning the award, Head Groundsman Robin Saxton, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to pick up the award for the best One-Day pitches.
“This is the result of a lot of hard work from the team throughout the season and I couldn’t be more proud of them.”
Director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said: “Robin and his team have worked tirelessly to prepare some outstanding pitches across all three formats this year and this is a thoroughly well-deserved recognition of their performance.
“There are significant challenges to preparing high quality pitches in this part of the UK and the improvement we have seen in our surfaces is testament to the hard work and dedication of Robin and his team.
We are committed to providing the highest quality playing and training facilities at Sophia Gardens and our associated venues to give our players the best environment to improve and our spectators the opportunity to view the best quality cricket possible.”
