Gloucestershire v Glamorgan T20: Head-to-Head

8 Jun 2015 | Matches
After their thrilling victory over Middlesex, Glamorgan travel to Bristol for their next contest in the NatWest T20 Blast as they meet Gloucestershire in a game scheduled to start at 5.30pm on Friday, June 12th.
Glamorgan's victory at The SSE SWALEC last Friday night has lifted them up into sixth place in the table, level on four points with five other teams, but with an inferior net run rate to all bar Sussex and Essex. In contrast, Gloucestershire are in the upper echelons of the group, with their nine-wicket pummelling of group leaders the Kent Spitfires at Beckenham last Friday evening lifting the West Country side into second place having won three out of their four games.

Gloucestershire are in action on Thursday evening against the Essex Eagles at Chelmsford, and if Michael Klinger's side win and maintain their healthy net run rate, they could return to Bristol for Friday night's contest as the new leaders of the group.

The weather was the only winner last summer when the two sides met at Bristol in a rain-affected contest which was declared a no result after a heavy thunderstorm flooded the outfield at the County Ground after the home side had posted 207/3 in their 20 overs. Glamorgan however re-addressed things six weeks later as they won the return game at Cardiff by eight wickets to clinch a place in the quarter-finals of the competition.

Their overwhelming victory at Cardiff in 2014 helped to erase the memories of the previous year when the West Country side proved to be Glamorgan's nemesis in the competition with Gloucestershire winning at Cheltenham College by ten wickets before posting a nine-wicket win at the Welsh county's headquarters nine days later.

Rain also affected Glamorgan's visit to Bristol in 2012 and like it's counterpart that year at The SSE SWALEC, it was abandoned without a single ball being bowled. The two teams were more fortunate with the weather in 2011 when Glamorgan defeated Gloucestershire by ten wickets at Bristol after the home side had been dismissed for just 81.
