Great To Be Back In Cardiff – Yorkshire Coach Gillespie

11 Aug 2016 | Cricket
Yorkshire Vikings Head Coach Jason Gillespie admitted it was great to be back in Cardiff as he prepares his troops for their quarter-final clash with Glamorgan tonight (7pm start).

Yorkshire finished third in the North Group and are looking to make a first appearance at Finals Day since they were beaten finalists in Cardiff in 2012.

Gillespie, who played for Glamorgan in 2008, told BBC Wales Sport: "It's great to be back in Cardiff, one of my favourite places.

"We know we've got a tough challenge against Glamorgan but we're up for it."

Yorkshire will have Adil Rashid back in their ranks after the leg-spinner was released from the England Test squad. The 28-year-old's return adds to the England experience of the visitors' attack alongside David Willey, Liam Plunkett and Tim Bresnan.

Gillespie added: "I'm disappointed for Adil because I'd love to see him representing England, but the bonus is that he gets to play for us.

"We've got a number of internationals so hopefully they can step up and get the job done."

The Vikings are without England trio Joe Root, Gary Ballance and Jonny Bairstow, as well as Australian batsman Travis Head. All are on duty with their national sides.

The match gets underway at 7pm tonight at The SSE SWALEC with the toss and team news announced at 6.30pm.
