17 Jul 2021 | Cricket

Glamorgan complete their campaign in the Vitality Blast as they travel to the Ageas Bowl on Sunday, 18 July to meet Hampshire in their final T20 game of the summer, with the match scheduled to start at 1430pm (writes Andrew Hignell).

The Welsh county have won three and lost five of their T20 matches at the Ageas Bowl and, as the list below shows, their most recent success came in 2018 by 63 runs after David Lloyd had top-scored with an unbeaten 38 before Andrew Salter made early inroads with a fine spell of 3/34 with Graham Wagg and Colin Ingram also delivering frugal spells.

16 May 2014 at The Ageas Bowl Glamorgan won by 10 runs
3 July 2015 at The Ageas Bowl Glamorgan won by 23 runs
14 July 2016 at The Ageas Bowl Hampshire won by 25 runs
10 Aug 2017 at The Ageas Bowl Hampshire won by 8 wickets
6 July 2018 at The Ageas Bowl Glamorgan won by 63 runs
2 Aug 2019 at the Ageas Bowl Hampshire won by 41 runs

Glamorgan lost in 2019 in a low-scoring game in 2019 after their spinners had restricted Hampshire to 128-7, but Liam Dawson (3/11) and Mason Crane (3/22) dismissed the Welsh county for 87. It had been a similar story at The Ageas Bowl in 2017 in another match dominated by the slow bowlers. Leg-spinner Crane claimed 3/21 for the home side before James Vince made a cultured 60 as his side strolled to victory by eight wickets.

The Welsh county won the match in 2015 at The Ageas Bowl after a sublime 77 from Jacques Rudolph plus a disciplined performance by their bowlers in restricting the powerful Hampshire line-up to just 158-8 as Glamorgan won by 23 runs. There had also been a fine all-round team effort in 2014, with a haul of 3/32 by Will Owen helping Glamorgan to secure a 10-run victory.
