Glamorgan Cricket is delighted to announce the signing of all-rounder James Harris on a short-term loan deal from Middlesex.
The former Glamorgan bowler rejoins the club on a two-week loan and will be available for the LV= Insurance County Championship clashes against Northamptonshire and Kent.
Harris is a product of the Welsh county’s youth system and made his first-class debut for the club back in 2007 aged just 16.
He became the youngest ever bowler in the County Championship to take 10 wickets in a match, when he returned figures of 12/118 against Gloucestershire at Bristol a few days after his 17th birthday.
Harris left Wales at the end of 2012 to join Middlesex but did return to Sophia Gardens on a short-term loan in 2014 for two further matches.
Across his career, the 30-year-old Welshman has played 148 first-class matches and taken 494 wickets at an average of 28.73. He has also scored nearly 4,000 first-class runs at 23.40 and hit 18 half-centuries.
Director of cricket, Mark Wallace, said: “We’re delighted to welcome James Harris back to Glamorgan for the next two weeks.
“We’ve suffered injuries to Ruaidhri Smith and Jamie McIlroy over recent weeks and Timm van der Gugten experienced muscle tightness during the Sussex match which has meant we’ve needed to strengthen the bowling department and bring cover in.
“James is a fantastic bowler with a very strong first-class record who knows the club inside out and will slot seamlessly into the squad.”
On rejoining the club on loan, James Harris, said: "It’s really exciting to represent my boyhood club again.
"Glamorgan is a club very close to my heart and when I found out there was an opportunity to join on loan I jumped at it.
‘I know Mark Wallace and Matt Maynard really well and have a great respect for both of them and can’t wait to get started and hopefully contribute to the team for the next two weeks.’
