Hogan and Bull Extend Contracts

26 Nov 2015 | Cricket
Glamorgan Cricket is delighted to confirm new contracts have been agreed with Michael Hogan and Kieran Bull to keep both players at The SSE SWALEC until the end of 2018 season.
Hogan joined Glamorgan from Western Australia and was an instant hit taking over 100 wickets in all formats in his first season and his track record continues to prove he is one of the most consistent seam bowlers in the Second Division of the County Championship during his three year spell, with a tally of 178 first-class wickets at just 21.94.

As well as having an excellent strike-rate in red-ball cricket, his parsimony in the shorter form has allowed him to become one of the best death bowlers in limited-overs cricket with his frugality and clever variations in the closing overs helping Glamorgan to clinch a number of thrilling victories in nail-biting finishes.

The Aussie bowler continues to enjoy life in Wales, commenting: I'm really pleased to commit my future to Glamorgan, my family and I are enjoying living in Wales and I have been able to put some performances on the board over the last three years.

We are determined to build on some encouraging performances in all forms of the game in recent years and hopefully we can kick on again in 2016 and bring some success to the Club.

Off-spinner Kieran Bull was born in Pembrokeshire, but raised in Carmarthen, before playing with success in the South Wales Premier League with Neath CC. He made his first-class debut against Kent at Canterbury in 2014 taking 4/62 - the best-ever figures by a Glamorgan slow bowler in their first bowl in the Championship since 1921.

The student at Cardiff Metropolitan University joined Glamorgan on a Development Contract in 2014 after being the deserved winner of the county's 2013 Academy Award for the Most Promising Young Player. After finishing his second year at University and performing well for Cardiff MCCU and in the Glamorgan Second XI, his 2015 season was cut short after suffering injury during the Championship game against Gloucestershire at St Helen's.

On signing his first professional contract with the Welsh county Kieran Bull commented, I'm delighted to continue playing for Glamorgan, I've enjoyed my opportunities in the first-team and after a frustrating 2015 with injury, I'm looking forward to the new season. There's a good balance in the team, with a mix of experience and some younger players, with the senior players always on hand to provide tips and support.

Hugh Morris added, Michael's contribution with the ball this season has been outstanding and his bowling figures clearly show he is one of the stand-out seam bowlers in the county cricket.

We want to bring through talented young welsh cricketers like Kieran into the Glamorgan team and equally important is retaining the best players such as Michael Hogan that we already have in the side. This is good news on both fronts.

Glamorgan membership is now available priced from £62 for adults or £60 for T20 Season Tickets for season 2016. Click here for more details or call 02920 419 311
