After a memorable 2013 Michael Hogan can't wait to get back to Glamorgan for the new season in county cricket.
The 32-year-old enjoyed great rewards with the ball with Western Australia last year, but sandwiched between the southern hemisphere's two half seasons of 2013, the lionshare of his success was delivered by his stunning debut season in county cricket with Glamorgan.
Hogan claimed 103 wickets in all cricket for the Welsh county, which included 67 wickets in the LV= County Championship and 28 in the Yorkshire Bank 40, more than any other county player in the tournament, as he helped Glamorgan to a Lord's showpiece final for the first time in 13 years.
''2013 certainly was a good year for me,'' said Hogan, who has been relaxing back in Newcastle, NSW, during the break in the Sheffield Shield season, I've just spent 6 weeks relaxing back home which has been a good break
'It's the longest amount of time I've spent back in Newcastle in the last five years, so we thought we'd spend some family time.
Summer is good down here, perhaps a little bit too warm, but it's nice. I've only been playing first-class cricket back here, no one- day or t20 cricket which means I've been able to have about a 9 week break to rest and recharge.
I'm looking forward to getting back to Cardiff, it's a very busy time at the moment in Australia as my wife is expecting our second child and we are also starting to build a house in NSW as well, so it will be good to just have the cricket to concentrate on.
