New Glamorgan signing David Miller is keen to impress fans during his six-match stint with Glamorgan after a whirlwind few days.
The big-hitting left hander joins as Glamorgan’s second overseas player and after arriving in Cardiff on Saturday was due to start his spell at the club against the Essex Eagles today (23 July) before the match was abandoned.
“It all happened over three or four days so it happened pretty quickly. There were a lot of emails flying around back and forth between my manager and a few guys here, while we put together a deal.
“I’m really thankful to be here, looking forward to the opportunity and hopefully I can put together some big performances for the team.”
Miller has played at The SSE SWALEC for South Africa during the Champions Trophy and also for Yorkshire during Finals Day and has fond memories of the ground.
“I already have a few good memories here. Finals Day was one of the special moments of my career and I’ve obviously played a couple of internationals games here and it’s got a good atmosphere, nice ground and facilities, so I really enjoy it here.
The South African is also keen to join-up with compatriot Colin Ingram who has lit up the NatWest T20 Blast this season with two hundreds and currently sits top of the six hitting charts.
“He’s been doing exceptionally well in all formats and he’s a seriously good player. I played quite a bit with him in the early stage of my career for South Africa and looking forward to playing alongside him again. He hits a few long balls but I think I have him covered.”
