I really enjoy playing in Wales with the fans and the culture here - Marnus

Overseas signing Marnus Labuschagne has arrived in Wales and is all set to play in Glamorgan's LV= County Championship match against Kent tomorrow.

The world number three ranked Test batsman joined his teammates for a net this morning and is thrilled to be back at the club he first joined in 2019.

"I love the people here, they make it so enjoyable to play for Glamorgan," said Marnus. "From the coaching staff, to the players and everyone involved with the club, they make me feel very welcome.

"I love playing with the team and helping Glamorgan win games. That's the part that I enjoy the most and I love the place, love Wales, love staying close to Sophia Gardens."

The conditions Marnus will face in England and Wales will be a far reach from those he recently encountered in Australia during Queensland's Sheffield Shield triumph, but he says the different conditions will be an 'exciting challenge.'

“It's something you've got to get used to, travel and play, and it's exciting to be back.

"It's different weather, different conditions, different balls but that's part of the fun, that's why you travel around the world and play in different conditions so you can improve your game.

"It's exciting to challenge myself in different conditions that I haven't played in for around 18 months now. I want to score as many runs as I possibly can, I want to take opportunities to get big scores,  but my main concern is winning for the team and get ourselves up that ladder."

He is also relishing working with head coach Matthew Maynard again, after his last spell with the club which saw him score 1,114 runs at an average of 65.52, with five centuries and led to an Ashes call up.

"He's a coach that I really learned a lot off, and we've already been yapping away in the changing rooms talking tactics, so it's exciting to be back. I've come over to learn more about the game and how far I can push my game and keep getting better."
