Australian fast bowler Michael Neser has arrived in Wales and is raring to go ahead of his second season with the Club.
The 32-year-old joined Glamorgan last year as our second overseas signing alongside Marnus Labuschagne and was an instant hit with Welsh supporters, as he bowled with pace and aggression, taking 23 wickets in just five matches.
Neser is hoping to hit the ground running again this year but is hoping the weather improves after a rain-interrupted first season with Glamorgan
“I’m really excited to be back and I want to contribute as much as I can to the team,” said Neser.
“Last season was a bit frustrating because the weather was bad. We lost a lot of days of play, so hopefully, the weather plays its part this season and I can play a bit more and string a couple of games together and win a lot.
“I think I learnt a lot last year and I’m happy to take that and put it into effect this season and start where I finished off.”
He suffered a side strain injury in February which ruled him out of the tour to Pakistan but is in the frame to return for Glamorgan’s opening LV= County Championship match against Durham.
“The injury is coming on well and I came back early to finish off the rehab and I’m ready to go. Everything is on track and I’m happy to be back.”
Neser will once again be joined at Glamorgan by fellow Ashes winner and Queensland teammate Labuschagne who is set to return to the Welsh county next week.
“He’ll be full of beans and ready to go as usual. Marnus is a character, and everyone is really excited for him to turn up and he’ll make a big impact that’s for sure.
“He makes things exciting and if you do have a day rained out, he makes the changing room quite enjoyable.”
With five new players signed over the winter, Neser believes they will bring added depth to an already strong squad this season.
“They’re all really good players and I think they are going to add a lot to the squad. We had a strong squad to start with and with the new additions it’s going to be even better.
“We’re all looking forward to what the season provides.”
