Ingram All Set For Somerset Showdown

Colin Ingram is hoping for good weather and a good result when Glamorgan take on Somerset in their final home match of the NatWest T20 Blast group stages this Friday night (7pm).

Ingram, who has smashed his way to 321 runs in 10 T20 matches this season, was keen for Glamorgan to re-establish their momentum after two defeats in their last two games.

With the weather set fair for the week, the South African was also excited for a scorching Friday night of cricket at The SSE SWALEC against rivals Somerset.

He said: "You can't get anyone more excited than me to see the sun – it's been a while! But I really enjoy playing cricket when the sun's out and hopefully we can get a good crowd down here for a local derby on Friday."

Ingram was desperate for Glamorgan to clinch an all-important win to seal qualification to the knockout stages against bottom side Somerset. The visitors boast the likes of Sri Lankan batting legend Mahela Jayawardena but Ingram was bullish about the Welsh county's chances of returning to winning ways this weekend.

"A win would certainly help (us to qualify for the quarter finals), we've been on the wrong end of the result in the last couple of games so I think a win would help regain some momentum again.

"We've still got some guys in good form, so if we can get a win that secures our (quarter-final) spot, we can go forward from there.

"It's all about re-adapting. We won seven on the bounce before these two defeats, so hopefully we can get back to that form on Friday night.

"Somerset are a dangerous side and it's a derby game, so it won't be an easy game that's for sure."

The Proteas batsmen – who has been the lynchpin of the Glamorgan side in the shortest format this season – also sent his congratulations to teenage batsman Aneurin Donald. The 19-year-old smashed an equal world-record 234 against Derbyshire at Colwyn Bay on Sunday and his form will give Ingram and company more confidence ahead of Friday night.

"Hearty congrats to Aneurin Donald," added Ingram. "I was following the game on cricinfo from down here in Cardiff and it looked like an incredible knock. With him, Mark Wallace and David Lloyd all in good form it bodes well for Friday."

Glamorgan versus Somerset is live at The SSE SWALEC on Friday night from 7pm. You can secure your seats – at just £15 for adults and £5 for children – by clicking here.
