Head coach Matt Maynard is determined not to dwell on his side’s loss to Surrey and with the Welsh county in action again tomorrow night at Sophia Gardens it provides his side with an opportunity to bounce back quickly from the defeat.
“It was one of those days that you get in cricket and sport sometimes that you can’t always explain. To be bowled out for 40 is never great but we need to keep going.
“We didn’t get off to a great start with the bat and Tom Curran bowled brilliantly to take a hat-trick and we were right on the back foot and of course the run rate started creeping up and we tried to get partnerships together but we never did that.”
“We’ve got a good chance to put it right tomorrow. We’ll get back late in the morning and the boys can have a bit of a lie in before we go again and try and put it right.
“It’s disappointing but we play again tomorrow night with more or less the same side. Hogan came off with a thigh injury so (Lukas) Carey will play and we need to regroup and give it a crack.”
Despite the result, Maynard was happy with the side’s bowling and fielding performance which saw Andrew Salter collect career-best figure as Glamorgan restricted Surrey to 141.
“I thought we were brilliant in the first-half of the match. I thought our fielding and bowling was excellent to restrict them to 140 and sometimes that score is harder to chase than bigger totals.
