Marchant de Lange starred for Glamorgan as the Welsh county bowled out Northants for 209 before reaching 5/0 when bad light brought proceedings to an early close on day one.
de Lange bowled with plenty of pace and aggression to take 4/64 and was ably supported by Michael Hogan (3/39) and Timm van der Gugten (2/33) as the Glamorgan attack dominated in helpful conditions.
"It's nice to get some points in the first innings, we haven't been doing that recently, but it was a good start from the bowlers and there was a green tinge to the wicket which is always good to see," said de Lange.
"It's nice to make the batters jump around a little bit, you don't get that often as a quick bowler but the wicket played well with a bit of swing as well. Rossington came in and played positively, I was thinking about 160 all out but they had a good partnership and then we came back strongly.
"It'll obviously be helpful if we can get a strong lead, but the weather in the UK can change often, so the swing might continue or it might stop, we'll see but I'm staying positive.
