Kent v Glamorgan - match preview and team news

30 Aug 2014 | Matches
Glamorgan's cricketers travel to Kent for their next match in the LV=County Championship with the four-day contest at Canterbury scheduled to start at 11am on Sunday, August 31st.
Match Preview

Both of Glamorgan's previous visits to the St. Lawrence ground have seen the games end all-square, with last summer's match seeing Murray Goodwin post a fine 136 before his side enforced the follow-on.

However, Glamorgan were victorious in the Championship match at the ground in September 2011 as the two teams took part in a pink-ball trial under the Canterbury floodlights, with a fine century by Stewart Walters guiding Glamorgan to an eight-wicket win.

The two teams have already met each other this season at the SWALEC Stadium, with Glamorgan winning the contest by an innings and 11 runs in mid-June with both Jacques Rudolph and Jim Allenby scoring centuries, whilst Michael Hogan returned match figures of 10/125.

All three Glamorgan players are approaching personal milestones in the course of the next three weeks, with Jim Allenby needing a further 186 runs to reach 1,000 runs in first-class cricket this summer, whilst Jacques Rudolph needs a further 118 runs to cross the 2,000 run barrier in all forms of cricket in 2014. Michael Hogan is closing in, once again, on 100 wickets in all games this summer, and besides these milestones being reached in the course of the coming month, the game at Canterbury could also see the Welsh county emulate their achievements of 2011 by recording home and away victories in Championship games over Kent, having won by an innings and 8 runs at the SWALEC Stadium, and then by eight wickets at Canterbury.
