Kettleborough selected for trip to Northants

Opening Batsman James Kettleborough will return to Wantage Road to face his former teammates Northamptonshire in the penultimate LV= County Championship match of the season, which is scheduled to start tomorrow (10.30am).

Despite a heavy defeat to Kent last week in Cardiff, Glamorgan keep faith with the same eleven with the addition of Dewi Penrhyn Jones to cover injury, with the fitness of David Lloyd a potential concern with a shoulder problem.

After Kettleborough missed the victory against Northamptonshire in Cardiff earlier this season, Head Coach Toby Radford will hope the opener's second innings 50, along with a maiden Championship century for Colin Ingram, against Kent provide some evidence that both batsman have found some form in four-day cricket at the end of their first summer in Wales.

Mark Wallace will again lead the side, with Jacques Rudolph back in South Africa with his wife and their new baby, Noah. Jeremy Lawlor keeps his place in the side despite a difficult first-class debut.

We played a couple of younger players in Jeremy Lawlor and Aneurin Donald against Kent, so its only fair when you bring players in that they get a fair chance, said Toby Radford.

For us we'd like to get back to playing the type of cricket we were at the start of the season. Its only through positivity, desire and determination and fight that we can do that.

I still believe opening the batting is one of the hardest things to do in the game, you are playing against the new ball and the best bowlers. It's a baptism of fire and a real jump up from second team cricket.

A number of players including Graham Gooch struggled when they started so players have to remain positive and back their ability.

We've picked the players because we back them and we believe they can do a job.

We see Jeremy as an opening batter, he's got the temperment and he can play the new ball, although equally he can play in the middle, so he may end up there.
