Glamorgan CCC members voted unanimously in favour to make important changes to the Club’s governance as part of a special resolution at this year’s AGM, which will herald a new structure of elected and nominated members to the board from 2018.
Sports bodies and clubs across the country are facing pressure to change their governance structure and Glamorgan CCC is pleased to be at the forefront of this change. The approved changes to the Club’s governance will help deliver a more diverse board, with the right skills to help the Welsh county blaze a trail in cricket with ECB and in sport generally.
The vote approved a new composition of the board, which will comprise five nominated members, two elected members (who will serve a two year term), and a Cricket Wales representative in addition to the President, Chairman and Chief Executive.
In order to facilitate a smooth transition to the New Committee, existing Elected and Nominated Members shall remain in place until the 2018 AGM. All Members of the existing Committee shall be entitled to apply to join the New Committee.
The AGM also welcomed Jane Crowley QC to join the Committee for the coming season in place of Malcolm Price who steps down after 14 years of distinguished service and many years previous supporting the Club. Jane’s reputation as a highly effective advocate extends beyond Wales after working for several years in the capital, where she was ranked as a leading London silk. Jane’s wealth of experience of the most complex aspects of children cases ensures an extensive knowledge in this field.
Treasurer Hamish Buckland has also recently stepped down after helping guide the Club through troubled financial times with distinction. His contribution to sustaining the future of Glamorgan CCC is undeniable. Both Hamish and Malcolm have accepted invitations to join the club as life members to recognise their invaluable contributions. A nominations process will follow in due course to replace Hamish as Treasurer.
