Glamorgan Cricket is pleased to announce that all-rounder Craig Meschede has signed a 2-year contract extension which will keep him at the Club until the end of the 2020 season.
The 26-year-old initially linked up with Glamorgan on loan from Somerset in 2015 and went on to sign permanently in 2016.
The talented all-rounder plays across all three formats for the Welsh county and was an integral part of the Club’s run to Finals Day in the 2017 Vitality Blast with his tight middle overs bowling and lower order hitting.
This year, he missed the Royal London One-Day Cup through injury but was put at the top of the order in the Vitality Blast and helped Glamorgan record a Club record five wins in a row in T20. Meschede averaged nearly 30 runs with the bat at a strike rate over 150 and took six wickets in the competition.
He has also played four Specsavers County Championship matches this year and in First-Class cricket has an overall batting average of 26 with two centuries and has taken 142 wickets across 70 games.
Speaking on his contract extension, Meschede said: “In 2015 I felt as though Glamorgan was the right place for me to be playing cricket and I’ve loved every minute of my time here, so I’m delighted to sign a new contract.
“It was frustrating to miss the One-Day Cup through injury earlier in the season but I was pleased to be a part of the Vitality Blast campaign and challenge myself at the top of the order.
“I’m very settled here in Wales and feel as though we’re certainly building for the future with some of the players we have coming through and I can’t wait for the new season to begin.”
Director of Cricket, Hugh Morris, said: “It’s great news that Craig has extended his contract with Glamorgan.
“Craig is a highly skilled cricketer who is a force in all three formats of the game and has proven that he can be relied upon to perform under pressure.
“We lost some key batsman at the top of the order during our Vitality Blast campaign and he really stepped up and produced with the bat when called upon at the top of the order, so we’re thrilled that he has decided to commit his future with the Club.”
