Match Preview

Victories last Friday evening for the Essex Eagles and Surrey, plus the Sussex Sharks' six-wicket win over the Panthers at Hove, has meant that Glamorgan have slipped down the table into fifth spot. However, the Welsh county have a game in hand over the Sharks with whom they are level on points so a victory in the match at Richmond against the Panthers would see Glamorgan rise back up into contention for a place in the quarter-finals of the all-action competition.

For their part. the Panthers are enjoying a sorry time this year in the NatWest T20 Blast, currently lying bottom of the South Division with just a solitary victory and eight defeats to their name from the ten contests so far in the competition.

They meet Glamorgan at a ground which has staged two previous Twenty20 matches against the Welsh county. An unbeaten 79 by Eoin Morgan saw the Panthers to a comfortable victory in June 2010 as Glamorgan were dismissed for 129, but the game in June 2011 was an entirely different affair as Glamorgan won by four wickets in a contest dominated by the spin bowlers with Dean Cosker taking 3/11 as the Panthers were bundled out for just 102, before Alviro Petersen struck a match-winning 72.
