More Headaches For Sri Lanka With Chameera Injury

25 May 2016 | Cricket
Sri Lanka have been dealt another blow ahead of the Second Investec Test match against England, with paceman Dushmantha Chameera sidelined with a stress fracture.

Chameera, who took three wickets during Sri Lanka's innings defeat to England at Headingley last week, will miss the rest of the tour with the injury to his back.

It is another concern for Head Coach Graham Ford and captain Angelo Mathews as the Sri Lankans look to bounce back. They are also missing seamer Dhammika Prasad who was injured in the warm-up game versus Essex at Chelmsford.

The Second Test will start at Chester-le-Street on Friday.

A statement from Sri Lanka Cricket said selectors will meet in the next 24 hours to pick a replacement for Chameera, who could be out for four months.

Following the Test series, Sri Lanka meet England in five ODIs, the last of which will be played at The SSE SWALEC, Cardiff. Tickets are still available from here.
