Glamorgan County Cricket Club are pleased to announce that Will Owen along with Welsh youngsters Kieran Bull, Jeremy Lawlor, Jack Murphy, Aneurin Donald, Dewi Penrhyn Jones and Andrew Salter have all signed new contracts.
Will Owen continues to show he is a promising fast-medium bowler who has delivered some impressive spells in recent seasons in particular in the shorter forms of the game. Will was brought up in Prestatyn and he made his debut for both Glamorgan 2nd XI and the Wales Minor Counties in 2007.

In 2011, Will showed his talents with the bat, scoring a career-best 69 against Derbyshire and sharing in a record tenth wicket stand with James Harris. He was affected by injury in 2013 but he has returned to fitness for 2014 and recorded figures of 3-32 against Hampshire at the Ageas in May and 3-42 against Leicestershire the same month.

Pembrokeshire-born Andrew Salter who is 21 is an exciting prospect. He made his first-class debut for Cardiff MCCU against Somerset at Taunton in 2012 and took a wicket with his first ball on his Glamorgan Championship cricket debut at Swansea in August 2013.

Dewi Penrhyn Jones was born in Wrexham and made significant progress in the 2nd XI this summer. He made his debut for Glamorgan in the Royal London Cup and, along with Andrew Salter, has been awarded an ECB scholarship to Australia. Penrhyn Jones will play in Grade cricket in Newcastle, New South Wales, whilst Salter will spend his time at the Darren Lehmann Academy in Adelaide, South Australia.

Off-spinner Kieran Bull was also born in Pembrokeshire, but raised in Carmarthen, before playing with success in the South Wales Premier League with Neath CC. He made his first-class debut against Kent at Canterbury last month taking 4/62 - the best-ever figures by a Glamorgan spin bowler in the Championship since 1921. The student at Cardiff Metropolitan University joined Glamorgan on a Development Contract this season after being the deserved winner of the county's 2013 Academy Award for the Most Promising Young Player.

Young batsman Aneurin Donald captained England U17s in the recent series against Pakistan whilst also playing for England U19s in the ODI whitewash success against South Africa. Yet to make his senior debut for Glamorgan, Donald has several impressive innings already under his belt for the county's 2nd XI and has been selected in match day squads for the NatWest T20 Blast match against Gloucestershire and the recent Championship match versus Derbyshire at the SWALEC Stadium.

Jack Murphy is another Pembrokeshire product who joined Glamorgan at the start of this season on a development contract and has shown himself to be a highly promising young all-rounder, returning from injury to lead the attack for the Second XI and also named in the squad to play Derbyshire this week.

Young batsman and spin bowler Jeremy Lawlor has progressed from St.Fagans CC and Monmouth School through Welsh age-group teams and into the Glamorgan 2nd XI and Wales Minor County side. This year he has also benefitted from close tuition from Mathew Maynard and has progressed well in the county's second XI under the watchful eye of Steve Watkin.

Chief Executive Hugh Morris said: We are delighted that Will Owen, Andrew Salter, Dewi Penrhyn Jones, Kieran Bull, Jack Murphy, Jeremy Lawlor and Aneurin Donald have signed new contracts with Glamorgan.

These Welsh players have all come through our own development programme and continue their cricket careers with the Club having played Wales Minor Counties and Second XI cricket.

It is a strategic objective of the Club to identify and develop the next generation of Glamorgan stars and these home grown cricket talents are all capable of succeeding and achieving honours with the Club.
