Rain prevented any play on the third day of Glamorgan’s Specsavers County Championship match against Worcestershire at The SSE SWALEC, with the home side on 42/4 after Worcestershire amassed 456/6.
Afternoon update
The rain started to ease after lunch and the umpires agreed to make an inspection at 2.15pm. A further inspection also occurred at 3.15pm but rain started to fall again and with the precipitation still falling play was called off at 5pm.
Morning Update
49 overs were lost yesterday to a combination of rain and bad light but in years to come, May 9th, 2016 will be remembered by cricket historians as the day when Brett D’Oliveira, emulated his late father Damian and grandfather Basil by posting a double-century as three generations from the famous Worcestershire family of cricketers became the first to achieve this feat in first-class cricket.
In the short period of play up until tea, Glamorgan were reduced to 42/4 but steady rain overnight and into this morning has prevented the visitors from making further inroads. With rain still falling at 10am, the umpires delayed the start with the covers and protective sheets completely across the square as the rain continues to fall.
The precipitation was still falling at the schgeduled start time of 11am so the umpires called for lunch to be taken at 12.30pm with no play possible in the morning session.
