Glamorgan meet the Northants Steelbacks in their next game in the Vitality Blast on Thursday, 3 September with the T20 contest being staged at the neutral venue of Edgbaston and scheduled to start at 1835 (writes Andrew Hignell)
After their defeats earlier this week, the Welsh county will be looking to get back into winning ways against the Steelbacks who are currently on top of the Central Group having already defeated the Worcestershire Rapids, Somerset and the Birmingham Bears.
This game is taking place at the neutral venue of Edgnaston - the ground where the Welsh county lost to the Birmingham Bears in their semi-final on T20 Finals Day in 2017, but Glamorgan were victorious on their previous visit to the Birmingham ground when they won a rain-affected contest against the Bears in 2012 by 22 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis Method.
As far as matches are concerned against the Northants Steelbacks, the two teams have met on eleven occasions, with Glamorgan winning twice, losing eight games and seeing the weather ruin the contest in 2012 as the game was declared a ‘No Result’.
Glamorgan’s sole victories over the East Midlands side came in 2004 at Northampton when a boundary-laden 43 by Darren Thomas guided the Welsh county to a five-wicket win, and in 2008 at Sophia Gardens where a ten-run win was secured under the Duckworth-Lewis Method after Robert Croft had posted the top score of a low-scoring game with 46, and his spin-twin Dean Cosker had claimed a pair of wickets in a typically miserly spell.
