The students on Glamorgan Cricket’s innovative BTEC course, based at The SSE SWALEC, are continuing their work on the Sports Studies course, with a series of Open Evenings coming up in the next few weeks for students looking to enrol on the popular course from September 2017.
Run in conjunction with TVS Education and Fitzalan High School, the students enrolled on the BTEC Level 3 in Sports Studies have been mixing their academic work in the learning centre within the CC4 Museum of Welsh Cricket with practical and training sessions at Glamorgan’s headquarters, including net sessions in the Indoor School and fielding drills on the outfield.
“It’s been a fantastic opportunity to further my education as well as furthering my sporting ability,” said one student, whilst for another “the facilities here at Glamorgan Cricket are superb and so much better than at school. The teachers and coaches are very helpful and great to work with.”
In the words of another student, “the course has been a great opportunity to develop my cricket skills as well as gaining the necessary requirements to get into university. The facilities overall are unique and it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.”
An Open Evening promoting the various BTEC courses offered by TVS Education in conjunction with Glamorgan Cricket, Cardiff City and the Cardiff Blues will take place at the House of Sport on Friday, November 11th between 6pm and 8pm, whilst an evening focussing specifically on the cricket course will be held in the National Cricket Centre at Glamorgan’s headquarters on Monday, November 14th between 6pm and 8pm.
Anyone interested in enrolling on the course in September 2017 is encouraged to attend, with the evening giving prospective students a chance to talk with the course tutors and coaches, as well as some of the existing students on the course.
