Opposition One To Watch: Dwayne Bravo

24 Jun 2016 | Cricket
Surrey\'s latest overseas star signing possesses the ability with bat and ball to hurt teams in T20 cricket – he\'s also a World Champion.

With more than 40 Tests, 164 ODIs and 60 international T20s to his name, Dwayne Bravo has a whole host of experience to call upon.

Bravo, who initially made his name as a useful allrounder for the West Indies at Test level, making his debut in 2004 against England at Lord's, has more recently become a T20 specialist. He was an integral part of the Windies' world T20 team earlier this year.

Bravo has also appeared in the Indian Premier League for Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Lions – alongside Dale Steyn – and Mumbai Indians, as well as the Sydney Sixers in the Australian Big Bash League.

The 32-year-old has mastered the art of death bowling, with a fine array of cutters, slower balls and yorkers making him a nightmare for batsmen at the end of an innings.

Bravo is also an explosive batsman, slotting into the West Indies side in the middle order and accelerating the innings in T20 towards the end. With the absence of Jason Roy – who is away on England duty – from the Surrey lineup, the onus will be on Bravo to blast the visitors towards a competitive total.

He will, of course, have to contend with the likes of Steyn, Timm van der Gugten and Dean Cosker, but Surrey will have confidence their allrounder can propel them to victory.
