Podmore Targeting First Team Place

Glamorgan’s new fast bowler Harry Podmore is eyeing a first-team place after arriving on-loan from Middlesex.

Podmore, 21, has yet to make a first-class appearance but has featured in 12 Twenty20 matches for his parent club and is desperate to make an impact during his time at Glamorgan.

He is with the Welsh County until May 26. And though he was named in the 14-man squad to take on Leicestershire, he missed out on selection for the final XI.

But Podmore says he is hungry for first-team opportunities during his time at The SSE SWALEC.

He said: “I’d love to make an impact here at Glamorgan. I came here to gain first-class experience and if I can help Glamorgan in any way, that would be ideal.

“There are some quality bowlers here with Hogan, Wagg, van der Gugten and Meschede and Lloyd as the allrounders, so I want to put in some good performances when I can and put pressure on those guys.

“I’m more of a seam bowler so hopefully I can bring a bit of hard toil to the bowling attack, bowl all day and nip the ball around."
