Head Coach Robert Croft lauded his team’s attitude after Glamorgan secured their third consecutive win in the Vitality Blast at Richmond.
White-ball skipper Colin Ingram hit the ground running in his return for the Welsh county as he hit an unbeaten 46* to see his side through to a seven-wicket victory against Middlesex.
Croft believes that despite the absence of an ‘overseas player’ in the team, others have stepped up and taken their opportunites.
“We’ve played some great cricket up here in recent times,” said Croft. “Our boys seem to fit well in the environment and I guess the connection with London Welsh is something close to our hearts.
“I’m very pleased with how we’ve gone in the short term. Ruaidhri [Smith] is another one of our younger players who we’ve given opportunity to this season. He’s shown what he’s made of and in front of the England Captain which also Kiran Carlson did, so I'm pleased for those two individuals.
“There have been pessimists around but what I’m really pleased about is the character our group have shown in dealing with setbacks. The thing with setbacks is that is presents opportunity with fresh faces to come in and they’ve taken said opportunities and played well.”
Glamorgan had been without Ingram due to illness, but his return could soon be coincided by David Lloyd who has resumed training after being sidelined with a finger injury.
Croft admits that while he has been pleased with recent results, he would prefer to focus on performances as opposed to a potential run to the knockout stages in the Vitality Blast.
“We’re really pleased with how the team is going right now,” added Croft. “David Lloyd will come back into the squad very soon and having Colin back is like having a new player. I can’t ask more of the boys at the moment especially with the attitude they’re showing.
“I haven’t looked at the table. All I’m interested in is how we play and in getting the best performance we can in every game. If we can do that then by the end of the competition then hopefully it will take care of itself in where we finish.
“For us to go as far as we can in this competition, it’s going to take a lot of people to do well over a long time. We’ve won three games now [in a row], but my focus is already on the next game when we play in Cardiff on Tuesday."
