Glamorgan made it two wins from three in the Vitality Blast thanks to an incredible innings from wicketkeeper Chris Cooke against Essex Eagles at Chelmsford on Friday night.
Cooke smashed an unbeaten 60 from 29 balls as the Welsh county reached their target of 168 from the final delivery in a thrilling match.
"We were in a spot of bother, having lost a few wickets," said Cooke. "But that is the nature of T20 cricket, I guess. It can change so quickly especially with small boundaries like this and a good wicket. It was just a case of someone had to come off and have a bit of luck. Fortunately tonight it was me.”
Cooke also paid tribute to his ninth-wicket partner Timm van der Gugten who he shared an unbeaten ninth-wicket stand of 61 with to take Glamorgan to victory.
“He was unbelievable, a calming influence. Just really good to have there. Though he didn’t score the runs it was important we didn’t lose wickets from his side. He got bat on ball when he needed to and talked me into things and out of others.
“I just wanted to take it as deep as possible. My thinking the whole ball through was just to take it to the last ball, and if I was still there we might have a chance. It paid off tonight.”
