Timm van der Gugten has played down his own career best bowling performance to focus on a more steely performance on day two.
Despite taking career best County Championship bowling figures of 6/40 on day one against Kent, van der Gugten is already determined to take an early wicket on day two and begin to focus on building a lead with the bat.
"It was a very strange day, you definitely couldn’t have predicted that after the first session. I thought the openers batted really well this morning and everything went a bit pear shaped after that. The wicket looked completely different to how it played and it's one of those wickets as a batsman you're never going to be in on.
"It's been a long road with the recovery especially after last season as I wasn't bowling right for a good six months, so it's good to get some rhythm back.
"I enjoyed my first experience at Lord's last week and I'm just glad that I've been able to continue in this game so far.
"We need to get this last wicket quickly tomorrow and score as many runs as possible. Hopefully we can get some sort of lead and then the bowling unit will look to defend it".
