BME Ambassadors who have dedicated their time tirelessly at the Pop Up Clubs across different locations in Cardiff to ensure that cricket is thriving in the local BME communities won the Volunteer of the Year category in the Nation Radio Sport Awards 2016 with Sport Cardiff last night.
Cricket Beyond Boundaries Volunteer Ambassadors have been rewarded for their contributions to the Cricket Beyond Boundaries Project by scooping the Volunteer Category for their commitment, dedication and tireless contribution to the project which has got off the ground and has been sustained in the way it has in the local communities.
With the volunteers' involvement we have managed to get more young people playing, even into the winter; cricket has been introduced to communities that weren't playing cricket before but also opened the doors to the SSE SWALEC Stadium to many children who had never had the opportunity to attend before. With this project, they have not only attended but played on the ground during the interval, led the Glamorgan and ODI teams out for the guard of honour, toured the museum and trained indoors where the pros train.
