Glamorgan CCC has sold a record breaking 15,000 tickets for England limited overs internationals against Australia and India next summer, four days after going on general sale.
Australia return to Cardiff for the second of a five-match ODI Series on Saturday 16 June, the first time the Aussies have been back since the 2015 Ashes defeat to England, whilst world no.1 T20 team India will be looking to retain their unbeaten record in Wales when they face England on Friday 6 July.
Tickets for the two internationals went on sale for the Cardiff clashes on Tuesday, in a synchronised ECB launch with venues across England and Wales.
The Riverside, Members, Castell Howell (formerly Cathedral Road) and Discover Leeks Pavilion Stands are all but sold out for both matches, with the Pro Copy Family Stand expected to go over the weekend, and even the Foster’s Grandstand already two-thirds full.
In all, there are currently less than 3,000 tickets left for the Australia game and about 4,000 remaining to be sold for the International T20 match between England and India.
A priority booking period for members and We Are England Supporters during the pre-sale created significant demand, with 2018 members still enjoying access to tickets with a £10 discount for a limited period.
Glamorgan CCC Marketing Communications Manager, Martyn Bicknell said, “We were expecting a huge amount of interest in these two games, particularly as the scheduling has given us Saturday and Friday fixtures, but the demand has surpassed our expectations and achieved record sales. We would like to thank those people who bought tickets for their patience as in some instances there were queues, despite our best efforts to respond to every caller.
“We do advise that those people that want to come to either game to book as early as possible to avoid being disappointed, as both should be hugely exciting encounters and a warm Welsh welcome is assured for a great day in Cardiff, with our customer experiences scores improving year-on-year.
Tickets are still available priced from £38 for adults and £12 for juniors. Tickets can be purchased online at www.glamorgancricket.com/tickets or by calling the Box Office on 02920 419 311
