Glamorgan's Elite Physical Performance Manager Rob Ahmun has been appointed as strength and conditioning coach to the England Development Programme.
With a MSc in Sport and Exercise Science from Cardiff Metropolitan University, Rob joined Glamorgan in 2003 as Elite Physical Performance Manager. His role at the County has allowed him to work with the various England Programmes during the winter months and he was part of the Management Team for the ICC U19 World Cup in the UAE in February this year.
Rob said, I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with Glamorgan and after more than a decade working here it is safe to say a great deal has changed, but I'm left with some very special memories. I'd like to thank all of the coaching staff and players I've worked with over the years and wish them the best for the remainder of the season.
The opportunity to work with England full-time is a fantastic career move for me and having worked on a number of England tours and with players in the programme over recent years I'm looking forward to the new challenge.
Glamorgan Director of Cricket and Chief Executive, Hugh Morris, said, Rob has been an integral part of the Glamorgan coaching set up for many years and has been responsible for the improving fitness, core conditioning and performance of developing Glamorgan players as well as the first team during this time.
We understand this new opportunity gives him a chance to develop his own career and we wish him well for the future. We will now begin a recruitment process to find a suitable replacement to help develop and improve the team going forwards.
