Robin Saxton has been seconded to the Head Groundsman role at Glamorgan County Cricket Club.
Robin, who previously served as Assistant Groundsman at The SSE SWALEC, will manage the team of full-time ground staff.
He joined Glamorgan in 2013 prior to the ICC Champions Trophy, following spells with first-class counties Worcestershire CCC and Essex CCC.
Being made Head Groundsman with overall responsibility for the square and outfield here at The SSE SWALEC is a dream opportunity, said Robin.
We've achieved encouraging pitch marks, particularly for international cricket, over the last few years here in Cardiff, including the ICC Champions Trophy as well as this year's Investec Ashes Test Match.
I'm looking forward to the challenge of providing pitches which produce good competition between bat and ball for many years to come.
Hugh Morris, Chief Executive at Glamorgan County Cricket Club, said: Replacing a Head Groundsman is certainly not an easy task, but Robin has good of experience of preparing pitches at The SSE SWALEC.
He knows the challenge having had the experience of hosting an Ashes Test Match earlier this summer and Robin stepped up to the challenge of leading the team to produce a pitch receiving top marks for the England versus Australia T20 Double Header here at the end of August. We wish him well for an exciting and challenging role.
