Ruaidhri Hotting Up In Oman

Having won a place on the Scotland team to play in the quadrangular IT20 series and bilateral List A series in Oman, Ruaidhri Smith is making the most of his return to international cricket.

In his first call-up for the Scottish national team since 2016, Smith has shown the selectors what he's capable of and made sure he remains in their plans for the future.

Making his IT20 debut in the quadrangular series against the Netherlands, the Glamorgan seamer had a solid start as he almost defended three runs off the final over as well as contributing with the bat.

Playing international cricket is a great honour for any player but Smith hopes that the experience will benefit his season at Glamorgan too.

"Getting the experience of playing against good sides like Ireland and Netherlands in different conditions is going to be beneficial to me, and getting cricket in the off-season is always good," added Smith.

"It's something that I see as a great opportunity for me to develop and play against full member nations."

Leading the charge in the opening 50-over fixture against Oman his match-winning 8-3-7-4 was one of his finest spells in white-ball cricket, up there with his birthday effort of 4-6 in the Vitality Blast against Middlesex.

"It was fantastic, following on from the Middlesex T20 game, it was another one of those bizarre days where everything went our way. It was a bit surreal because there's normally a partnership somewhere along the line."

Despite suffering a minor injury that limited him to three overs in the second match of the series, Smith is returning to training next month and is confident of returning to full fitness by the time the season starts in April.
