Glamorgan Head Coach Robert Croft and captain Jacques Rudolph have both commented on rumours linking South African paceman Dale Steyn with a move to The SSE SWALEC.
Steyn, who has taken 406 Test wickets for his country, could be added to the Glamorgan squad for the first half of their NatWest T20 Blast campaign. Australian quick Shaun Tait has already been secured for the second half of matches.
Fellow countrymen Rudolph welcome the possible move. He has played alongside Steyn for Titans as well as the South Africa national side and admitted it could be a 'brilliant' signing for Glamorgan.
He said: "If he was coming – which I think there's a good possibility of – Dale's a very experienced campaigner, he's a good friend of mine and I think he will add a lot to our bowling unit.
"He's still got a bit of pace, and I think with his experience of playing international cricket over so many years, it will be good for some of our young players to learn from him."
Steyn is currently on the books of Indian Premier League Side Gujarat Lions, who are flying high in the T20 franchise tournament. The final is on May 29, three days after Glamorgan's T20 Blast opener at Surrey.
Rudolph added: "His IPL team is doing really well and there's still a bit of a visa issue.
"We've got to wait and see but I don't think he's playing at the moment for his IPL team. All in all, if he can join us, it would be brilliant."
Croft agreed that the addition of Steyn would benefit any side.
He said: "It’s speculation at the moment but Dale would make any team better.
“He is one of the greatest fast bowlers to ever play the game and every team we would like to see him in their line-up.
“So we will wait and see."
Glamorgan's first home match in the NatWest T20 Blast is against Essex on June 1, where kids can come for £1. Tickets and details here.
