Jacques Rudolph vowed that Glamorgan will be \'refreshed and rejuvenated\' when they return to T20 action on Thursday night against Hampshire at The Ageas Bowl following a rare defeat on Sunday.
Rudolph, speaking after Glamorgan's nine-wicket defeat to Gloucestershire yesterday (Sunday) – the Welsh county's first T20 loss in eight games – said his side would benefit from a four-day break before the vital match in Southampton on Thursday night.
Graham Wagg starred with a quickfire 32 off 23 balls and Timm van der Gugten removed Hamish Marshall early on, but otherwise, it was an afternoon to forget for Rudolph's side versus current league-leaders Gloucestershire.
Glamorgan have been without keeper-batsman Chris Cooke for the previous three T20s. The South-African born 30-year-old has been absence with a back injury, meaning Mark Wallace has returned to the side at the top of the order.
And though Wallace has deputised with some success – hitting 69 not out against Middlesex at Richmond – Rudolph said it will be 'a week or two' until Cooke returned.
Rudolph was keen for Glamorgan to bounce back following the blip against Gloucestershire and maintained that the Welsh county were in a strong position; two points off the top spot with two games in hand, with seven victories, two defeats and one wash-out from their opening 10 fixtures. A quarter-final place remains firmly within their grasp.
Rudolph said: "We've beaten very good teams convincingly which gives us confidence, but unfortunately this wasn't our day.
"We've got a few days' break now and it's a nice opportunity for the guys to get refreshed and rejuvenated before we play on Thursday (14 June, away to Hampshire)."
Glamorgan's final home game in the NatWest T20 Blast is against Somerset at The SSE SWALEC in Cardiff on Friday July 22, starting at 7pm. Secure your seats for the match by clicking here.
