Glamorgan registered their third successive T20 Blast victory with a 2 run victory over visiting Somerset via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method. Somerset scored 159/5 from their 20 overs, after tight spells from both Wayne Parnell and Michael Hogan helped to restrict the West Country side.
Hogan bowled with immaculate control as his four overs cost just 14 runs, included a maiden in the 4
th over of the innings. Parnell, bowling his allocated overs in one spell at the top of the innings, also returned mightily impressive figures of 2/16, including the scalps of both Allenby and Trescothick.
Somerset were 62/3 after 12 overs, but a fine knock of 84* allowed Somerset to build their total in excess of 150. Dean Cosker pegged Somerset back however, with a tight spell of left-arm spin to claim 2 wickets during his allocation.
Glamorgan made their way to 43/1 in the first 6 overs before the rain arrived to leave any further play impossible. But that was not before Craig Meschede could light up the gloom with a bright knock of 18, including 2 sixes in three balls from the bowling of Allenby. Captain Jacques Rudolph (10*) and Colin Ingram (12*) were at the crease when the game was halted after 6 overs.
It's nice to open with someone who's a natural ball striker, I think he's going to hurt someone later on in this competition, he's got the ability to score a hundred Rudolph said of opening partner Meschede
Mentally, Parnell is over his injury, it's nice because between Parnell, Hogan and Wagg we always have two available for the end. We all know that Hogan is a star performer for us.
We've got a bit of momentum now, and a big four-day game in the week against Surrey that could see us get second in the Championship. Rudolph said.
Glamorgan will be looking to make it four from four in the T20 Blast when they visit Essex next Friday, before a home clash with Sussex on father's day, 21
st June at The SSE SWALEC.
