Head coach Matt Maynard has named a 13-man squad for our next LV= County Championship fixture against Derbyshire at the Incora County Ground tomorrow.
Slow left-arm spinner Prem Sisodiya and wicket-keeper batter Tom Cullen come into the squad, replacing Dan Douthwaite and Callum Taylor.
Cullen made valuable contributions with the bat for the 2nd XI in their match against Lancashire this week and will have fond memories playing against Derbyshire after he was instrumental in the victory the last time we played in Derby in 2019.
After a tough loss against a strong Middlesex side, the Welsh County will look to recapture the form that saw them convincingly defeat Nottinghamshire in their last away outing in the competition.
After three matches in the competition, Glamorgan sit in third place in Division Two having won one, lost one and drawn one, while Derbyshire are a place above them and 14 points in front of the Welsh county.
View from the camp – David Lloyd
“It was a tough one to swallow,” said Lloyd, “but we have to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves off to get ready for Derbyshire.”
“One bad result doesn’t make you a bad team overnight, and we have had a lot of positives to take from the rest of the cricket we have played so far this season. So, as a team, we have been focusing on those positives this week.”
“We can take a lot of pride in our last away performance against Notts, as we know that is the type of cricket we can, and want, to play. Our bowling unit have been really impressive throughout the first few weeks, and we hope as a batting unit we can back them up again this week.”
“It will be a tough four days again, every team in Division Two look really strong, and Derbyshire have had a great start to the season. But we know if we play our brand of cricket, not many teams will be able to hang with us.”
