Heavy rain may have brought an abrupt end to proceedings in Glamorgan's second warm up match today, but not before Rudolph (44), Wallace (37), Lloyd (31 not out) and Selman (35 not out) enjoyed some batting practice against the Cardiff MCCU bowlers.
New signing Nick Selman enjoyed his opportunity to bat at The SSE SWALEC, hitting five boundaries, including a couple of maximums down towards the River End during his unbeaten knock.
Ye, it was good, said Nick speaking to Radio Wales after the game, it was good for us to get some time in the middle before the season, especially for myself,.
Having just played a season over in Australia where the conditions are a bit different to over here. My first 15 or 20 balls were a bit different, they kept a bit low, so it got me thinking, but I'll just have to get used to it and it was good to spend time out in the middle.
Glamorgan reached 162/2 before the forecasted rain arrived, but with Bragg, Kettleborough and to a lesser extent Cooke and Rudolph, getting some time in the middle in the
warm-up win against Gloucestershire on Good Friday, the practice today was still beneficial,
It was good practice for us, continued Nick, it was just a shame that it rained, but I think I got something out of that innings to put me in good position for the start of the season.
During 2014 I started trialling for Kent and that went through to June or July last year when I was then told I wasn't going to get a deal there, so I had a few contacts with Glamorgan and I played the last couple of Second XI games of the season last year and scored 60 or 70 and was lucky to sign a one-year deal which was pleasing.
With a first professional contract now under his belt, Selman is looking towards the season ahead to make his mark,
I'd love to break into the first-class four day side this year, added Nick.
I think my kind of game is four day cricket and then if I can play in all formats great, but mainly I think my ambition is to get into that four day side and score as many runs as I can.
Selman is already seeing the benefit of working with a new Head Coach.
It's a fresh start for everyone with Crofty and all the boys have enjoyed the way its started with him as Head Coach. For me personally he's already helped me out a little with my batting, so to have someone with that international experience is great and the boys are backing him 100%.
As someone who has played a the highest level he definitely brings something to the table and the boys are keen to do well for the Club and for him.
He hasn't really gone into detail with me in terms of whether I'm going to start or not yet, so I'll find that out in the next week or so before the season starts, but he's helped me out with how to handle some different situations during a game.
For instance if its in a certain part of a T20 game and the ball is turning then how to handle it or different situations, so its been really good, but with regards whether I'm going to play or not, I'll have to way and see.
