Slow left-arm spinner Prem Sisodiya will fly out to Delhi, India today as he enrols in the Aysuh Cricket Academy spin bowling camp.
He will be working under renowned coach Umesh Patwal and is among a group of young spinners on the two-week camp.
"I am really excited to get out to India,” said Sisodiya. “It’ll be good to get outdoors and work closely with different coaches and spinners out there and hopefully feel even more prepared for the beginning of the season with Glamorgan.
"I am looking to forward to getting some time outdoors. To get out there, bowl lots and lots of overs in the nets and out in the middle during scenario practices and hopefully it’ll put me in good stead when the season begins.
“It is all about taking in as much information I can from the coaches and other spinners alike. If I do that, I know I will come back a better player.”
He enjoyed a breakout white-ball season in 2020 when he opened the bowling in the Vitality Blast, taking 10 wickets at an economy under 6.5, but was frustrated by injury last year as he only managed to play in eight Vitality Blast games last season, and missed out on the Club's historic Royal London Cup campaign.
Now back to full health, Sisodiya is looking to use the opportunity to hone his skills across all three formats of the game and add to his two County Championship appearances for the Club back in 2018.
“I’m looking to develop my red and white ball skills out there. I want to get lots of overs under my belt outdoors just to add that extra bit of confidence.
“I made my First-Class debut in 2018 at St Helens against Derbyshire, and I did pretty well. Unfortunately, I haven’t played much red-ball since then, so that is certainly a focus of mine going forward.
“I have been a part of the T20 side across the last two seasons and it has made me a much better bowler. Having been a regular in those sides, I am itching to get back into the County Championship team and I am hoping my trip to India will help me get closer to that goal.”
